About

Seraphim House
is a New England-based art collective with a strong DIY foundation. Starting out by specializing in high quality album releases (often in boutique limited editions) along with hand-screened art, shirts, and merchandise, SH has more recently expanded into film and audio engineering, mixing, and production (see the Seraphim House Studios page under the Info link above). It is the banner under which founder Robb Kavjian unites all of his creative works—albums from various music projects, visual arts, studio production work, film, etc. Inspired by multimedia artists and genre benders like David Lynch, Clive Barker, Nick Blinko, and David Tibet, Seraphim House is devoted to world building, shapeshifting, and art as a way of life.

+1476+ (2010–Present)

New England's 1476 creates isolationist sound stories: originally coming from a Punk/DIY background in both sound and attitude, they arguably absorbed all genres of guitar-heavy and atmospheric music—including subgenres of Metal, Neofolk, and Ambient. Their DIY development has freed them from any and all genre restrictions, allowing the band to boundlessly explore conceptual worlds. They do not rest their laurels on an anarchic attitude alone, but delve deeper into esotericism, magic, and spirituality with deep roots in the personal and emotional realms. This has lead to some unparalleled music—energetic, emotive, and always atmospheric with strong themes outside of the ordinary, often capturing the energy and mood of the old, haunting landscapes of New England's coastal regions.

Monastery (2014–Present)

Dreamscapes for Solitude. Dungeon Synth for Psychonauts. Dark New Age for a New Dark Age.

The cinematic soundscapes of Monastery weave seamlessly through the realms of Dark Ambient, Dungeon Synth, Folk, World Beat, Experimental, and New Age. Each release truly lives in the physical as the album art and accompanying poems are just as important as the music itself in creating immersive fantasy worlds for the listener to inhabit. Eccentric and deeply spiritual, lush and sensual, Monastery is a shelter and a peaceful solitude in a troubled time—a radical devotion to beauty in an age where the sacred is viewed with cynicism and the value of honor treated with scorn.

'Monastery' also serves as a moniker for the artist's illustration works. These lean heavily on the study of Celtic Knot construction, spiritual/magical themes, and more recently, charcoal improvisations that border on the surreal.
